Are luxury brands eco-conscious?

The World Wildlife Fund for Nature in the UK (WWF-UK) has publicized a report that has assessed the world's 10 top brands such as Hermes and Louis Vuitton' for their consideration towards the environment, human rights, etc. The assessment criteria were based on the sustainability report published by each brand as well as the evaluation by the media and NGOs.

Here is how the brands were evaluated. The highest grade was a C+, and none of the brands scored an A or a B.
C+: L'Oreal (Ralph Lauren, etc.), Hermes , LVMH (Louis Vuitton, etc.)
C: Coach
D+: Tiffany & Co.
D: Swatch, PPR (Gucci, etc.), Richemont (Cartier, etc.)
F: Bvlgari, Tod's

Many of these top brands are imported into Japan and some say that Japan is one of their biggest financial supporters. Massive boutiques for these luxury brands have constantly popped up in Ginza over the past few years, and their advertising campaigns are becoming more and more active. If only their PR activities would include more non-product information窶ヲ
